Red chip listing is a channel often used by Chinese companies incorporated offshore to be listed in Hong Kong.  In order to facilitate a deeper understanding of this area such as the new landscape regarding foreign exchange regulations as well as innovations in the design and strategy of financial structures in red chip listings, at the invitation of the Chinese Securities Association of Hong Kong (“Chinese Securities Association”) our firm hosted a special seminar entitled “Typical Structure in Red Chip Listing under the PRC Laws and Regulations and New Trends in Foreign Exchange Regulations” on 23 September 2011.

Amongst the speakers of this special topic were three of our firm’s PRC legal counsels. Mr. Wang Wei, Mr. Yang Xing, and Mr. Li Zizhi, as well as Mr. Ernest Chung, a partner of our firm, who answered in detail many questions raised at the seminar.  Amongst some 70 securities company member participants of the Chinese Securities Association in attendance, many were from senior management of those companies.  The atmosphere at the seminar was filled with enthusiasm and the seminar was well received.  After the seminar, many members requested the Chinese Securities Association to organize similar high quality special topic seminars in future.
