Karen Cheung is a Partner in our Litigation and Regulatory Department. She has a broad contentious practice which includes complex cross-border general, corporate and commercial litigation and arbitration. She represents multi-national entities, stated-owned entities, international corporations from Hong Kong, China, the United Kingdom, the United States and Europe.
Apart from her corporate and commercial practice, Karen is experienced in handling contentious probate litigation, matrimonial proceedings, land disputes, employment disputes, disciplinary proceedings, judicial review, maritime disputes, SFC investigation, and criminal matters (both traditional and white-collar crime).
Being fully tri-lingual (English, Cantonese and Putonghua), she acts for both local and overseas clients in PRC related matters including negotiating and drafting commercial agreements.
Karen began her career as a barrister. Prior to joining the firm, Karen had more than 10 years’ experience working at two international law firms.
Karen is also an ADR practitioner. As a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a Fellow of the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators, Karen accepts appointment as an arbitrator. Her experience in arbitration includes commercial and shipping arbitration as well as arbitration-related court proceedings. Karen became an accredited mediator in 2010. She accepts instructions from firms and individuals to assist in negotiation and to reach a mediated settlement.
